A woman has highlighted the dark side of the internet after sharing a creepy experience she recently had on Facebook Marketplace.
The mum, known only as Jo, listed some Huggies nappies online for sale but never expected the response she received.
A man got in touch with the Melbourne mum to enquire about the items, asking if they were still available and requesting to see photos of the nappies before purchasing them.
However the stranger didn’t want any old picture, he was demanding something much more worrying.
According to Jo, the man wanted her to send photos of her daughter wearing one of the nappies.
Alarm bells instantly began going off in the parent’s head and she quickly informed him that his request was ‘inappropriate’.
Speaking to Kidspot, she revealed how she took a closer look at the man’s profile and noticed several disturbing things.
She explained: “By looking at his profile, I quickly summed up that he was a perv.
“I felt disgusted that someone tried to violate my daughter.”
Jo reported his Facebook page and contacted a friend who works for the police for further advice.
She also shared the incident on her own social media to warn fellow parents to be incredibly careful online when it comes to their children.
She said: “I would like to warn other parents to be careful and wary of these odd requests in case they think it might be innocent.
“Also be cautious about what you post on the internet about you or your child.
“Sometimes parents post cute pictures of their little ones online not realising it might be used for something unsavoury.”
The mum added: “The internet is not a safe place anymore so better be always cautious than sorry.”
